It upgraded the "plastic restriction order" a few years ago to a "plastic ban order" and began to fight a pre war for a comprehensive ban on plastics in China.

 

 

On January 16, 2020, the national development and Reform Commission and the Ministry of ecological environment issued the opinions on Further Strengthening the control of plastic pollution. Its main goal is to take the lead in banning and restricting the production, sales and use of some plastic products in some regions and areas by 2020. By 2022,the consumption of disposable plastic products will be significantly reduced, alternative products will be promoted, and the proportion of plastic waste recycling and energy utilization will be greatly increased; in the areas with prominent plastic pollution problems and emerging fields such as e-commerce, express delivery, a number of replicable and promotable plastic reduction and green logistics modes will be formed. By 2025, the management system for the production, circulation, consumption, recycling and disposal of plastic products will be basically established, the multi governance system will be basically formed, the development and application level of alternative products will be further improved, the landfill amount of plastic waste in key cities will be greatly reduced, and the plastic pollution will be effectively controlled.

 

With the introduction of various governance measures and the continuous strengthening of people's awareness of environmental protection, biodegradable plastics have a broad alternative space for traditional plastic products.

For example, we should increase support for key projects, implement relevant fiscal and tax policies, increase key core technology research and achievement transformation of recyclable and degradable materials, and improve the performance of alternative materials and products. On the other hand, we should improve the system standards and strictly enforce the law. At the same time, we should strengthen supervision and inspection of the implementation of plastic pollution control, bring key issues into the central ecological and environmental protection supervision, and strengthen assessment and accountability.

 

 

According to the data, in 2018, the global market scale of biodegradable plastics is about 3.97 billion US dollars, which is expected to reach 10.3 billion US dollars by 2024, with an average annual growth rate of 17%. China is the world's largest producer and consumer of plastics, especially in the field of plastic bags and plastic film. According to statistics, China's annual consumption of plastic bags is between 700000 tons and 800000 tons, and the consumption of agricultural plastic film exceeds 1.2 million tons. Once large-scale replacement is realized , it will provide a huge market space for biodegradable plastics.

 

According to the research report released by Frost &Sullivan, a consulting company, in 2020, the global demand for biodegradable materials is expected to reach about 3.22 million tons, with an average annual growth rate of more than 16%.
